HARRIET SELFE

Harriet Selfe, also known as @harrieartselfe, is an artist based in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. Her practice centres on the human figure, nature, everyday objects, and classical portraiture. Working primarily in a realist style, Harriet uses vibrant colour to express her personal perspective of the world, often balancing careful observation with expressive, contemporary touches.

 

Harriet studied Fine Arts and has spent the past eight years teaching Visual Art and Painting at local high schools. Her dual role as both artist and educator continues to inform her practice, with her exploration of techniques, materials, and composition feeding directly into her teaching.

 

Alongside her teaching, Harriet maintains an active personal practice. She regularly shares her work online and has developed a series of portrait paintings based on her TikTok followers, creating a sense of connection and community through her art.

 

Harriet accepts commissions for realistic portraits, animals, and landscapes. She works across a range of media, including digital, graphite, acrylic, and oil painting, tailoring each piece to suit the subject and client.
